Michael’s Wall of Flowers

Like many cancer patients, Michael could not have flowers in his hospital room while undergoing chemotherapy. So Michael’s friend Darryl Pitt, who left a career in photojournalism to become Michael’s manager twenty years earlier, tried something new. He began to take photos of flowers, and specifically at a single community garden in Riverside Park. Each day he would add a new image to Michael’s hospital room wall, which was soon covered with flowers. In what is yet another testimonial to Michael’s legacy, Pitt’s ongoing efforts in this garden are now widely shared throughout the world.
